Romont celebrated the feast of St James every year between 2010 and 2017 in honour of friendship and sharing. From 2018, we will celebrate St James in Romont in the years when 25 July falls on a Sunday.
A stage on the Camino towards Santiago de Compostela:
Most pilgrims en route to Cape Finisterre in Spain stop off in Romont after a long stage from Fribourg. They can be recognised by their pilgrim’s staff and scallop shells on their bags, hats and clothing. The medieval town also has a Place Saint-Jacques, making a stopover almost unmissable.
The next feast of St James will take place on Sunday 25 July 2021!
