Temporary exhibition of works by Ada Isensee and Hans Gottfried von Stockhausen.

On the occasion of the centenary of the Société Saint-Luc, the Vitromusée Romont dedicates the year 2024 to various forms of expression of sacred art in the 20th century. The exhibition "Transparency | Transcendence" highlights the transcendent and mystical aspect of sacred stained glass through the works of the famous German-born artist couple, Ada Isensee (* 1944) and Hans Gottfried von Stockhausen (1920–2010). Trained as painters, they enchant the audience by creating stained glass windows that adorn churches or secular buildings worldwide. Visitors are invited to follow a path of renewal of Christian iconography from the second half of the 20th century to the present day.

Moving from traditional biblical imagery to a more abstract visual language, universal themes such as the dialogue between earth and sky, the manifestation of the divine, feminine power, and spiritual essence are approached in a delicate and impactful manner. Between the two artists, the content overlaps. Although the representations are different, almost in contrast, the meaning conveyed by their images connects them. A perpetual play of light and darkness reveals the bright and dark sides of life. By the nature of its material, glass carries transparency. The message imparted by its creators evokes transcendence.
