A delightful walk starting in the only German-speaking part of La Gruyère. The route takes you around the famous Gastlosen, the vertiginous limestone walls well known to climbers.

This mountain path runs along the Gastlosen mountain chain to the south of Jaun, at an altitude of between 1,500 and 1,900 m. The Gastlosen Tour features a wealth of plant life and a level of geological diversity that are unique to the region, plunging you into a very special ambiance and atmosphere all along this magnificent route.
The route starts at the point where the chair lift arrives in Musersbergli. The path towards the Chalet du Soldat begins with a view over gentle Alpine meadows and light forests, before opening out onto a landscape of steep limestone cliffs, some of which reach a height of 300 m. This is your chance to discover the Stillwasserwald and its diverse vegetation. After a rocky section you will reach Wolfsort – at 1,921m, the highest point of the walk – which takes you from the northern to the southern side. On the southern slope, the view of the Bernese Alps and the Valais four-thousander peaks in the background is spectacular. Next, you will cross a series of lush Alpine meadows. Once you have passed the Alp Grat and crossed the burgeoning Mattenwald, you will return to your starting point.

Tip: you can also walk the route in the opposite direction. From the Col du Loup, extend your walk to the summit of the Wandflue (the trail is not marked).
Make the most of the Alpine restaurants along the way to discover the local produce.
